KnotNote Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 26, 2026

Sinabro (the “Company”) establishes and publishes this Privacy Policy regarding the processing of personal information of users of its mobile application, KnotNote (the “App”). This Policy applies to all users of the App.

1. Information Processed and Purposes of Processing

The data the Company processes through the App is limited to the entries you create within the App about the people in your life: the people you add (their name, the relationship label you assign — such as family, colleague, friend, or school — and any notes you write), the occasions you record for them (such as weddings, funerals, birthdays, and other milestones, together with their dates and venues), and the gift records attached to those occasions (the amounts you gave or received, recorded in Korean won). If you enable calendar integration, the App additionally keeps a reference to the calendar events it creates so they can be kept in sync. The Company does not collect any information that identifies you as an account holder — there is no sign-up, login, name, email address, phone number, or password — and the App has no registration procedure. The sole purposes of processing this data are to store your entries on your own device and personal cloud storage and to keep them in sync across your own devices.

2. Where Data Is Stored

On iOS, your data is stored exclusively in your Apple iCloud private database (CloudKit private database) and on your device. On Android, your data is stored on your own device; if you have turned on Android’s system backup, a copy of the App’s data may be included in the backup associated with your Google account, which is controlled by the operating system. In all cases the Company operates no backend server of its own and has no access to the content of your data. For details on data processing by the iOS platform provider (Apple), please refer to the Apple Privacy Policy.

3. Calendar Integration

Calendar integration is an optional feature that stays off until you turn it on and grant calendar access. When enabled, the App creates, updates, and deletes calendar events for the upcoming occasions you record, within your own calendar. This is one-way: the information stays in your calendar (and any calendar account you have configured on your device) and is never transmitted to the Company. You can withdraw calendar access at any time in your operating system’s settings, and you can turn the feature off within the App.

4. Exporting Your Data

The App lets you export everything you have entered — the people, occasions, and gift records — to CSV files at any time, so your records are always yours to take with you. The export files are generated on your device, and you choose where to send or save them. The Company is not involved in this process and does not receive the exported files.

5. Retention Period

Data remains stored until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App — in your personal cloud storage on iOS, and on your device on Android. The Company keeps no separate copy of your data, so no Company-side retention period applies.

6. Third-Party Disclosure and Processing

The Company does not disclose your data to any third party and does not engage any external processor to handle it. On iOS, your data is stored on the infrastructure of the platform provider that offers your personal cloud storage (Apple Inc.); that area is managed by you under your own account, and the Company cannot access or control it. If you enable calendar integration, the events the App creates may be synchronized through the calendar account you have configured, which is controlled by you and your operating system.

7. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

The Company does not embed any analytics SDK, advertising SDK, or external tracking tool in the App. No behavioural data or usage statistics are transmitted to the Company. Where you have enabled the diagnostic-data sharing setting provided by your operating system (on iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements; on Android: the OS’s usage and diagnostics sharing setting), anonymous, aggregated crash reports may be delivered to the Company; such reports contain no personally identifying information. The Company does not collect any advertising identifier (such as IDFA or Advertising ID). The App is free and contains no in-app purchases or advertising.

8. Notifications

The App uses local notifications only (on iOS: UNUserNotificationCenter; on Android: the equivalent OS notification system), including reminders for upcoming occasions such as D-Day reminders. The content of notifications does not leave your device, regardless of whether notification permission has been granted. If remote push notifications are introduced in the future, the Company will update this Policy and provide separate notice.

9. Your Rights and How to Exercise Them

You have the right to access, rectify, delete, and restrict the processing of your own personal information. Because all data in the App resides on your device and in personal cloud storage that you control, you may exercise these rights directly through the App or through your operating system’s settings. If a request must be addressed to the Company, please use the contact details in Section 14 below.

10. Procedure for Deleting Data

Deleting an item within the App removes it from your storage; it disappears from view immediately and is permanently purged after a short grace period. If calendar integration is enabled, deleting an occasion or turning the feature off also removes the calendar events the App created for it. The App also provides an option to delete all of your data at once. Uninstalling the App deletes the local data on your device. On iOS, data synced to personal cloud storage (iCloud) may remain in your account and will reappear if the App is reinstalled under the same account; to permanently delete it: Settings → (Apple ID) → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → KnotNote → select “Turn Off and Delete from iCloud”. On Android, uninstalling the App deletes the data on your device; any copy held in your operating system’s backup is governed by your account settings.

11. Security Measures

The Company does not retain your data on its own servers, which minimises the likelihood of your data being compromised through infrastructure operated by the Company. The security of your data is protected by the security policies (such as encryption in transit and at rest) of the cloud operated by your operating system provider.

12. Children Under 14

The Company does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 14.

13. Changes to This Policy

If this Policy is amended, the Company will update the “Last updated” date on this page. Where the change is material, the Company will provide separate notice through an in-app notification or by email.
