Sinabro (the “Company”) establishes and publishes this Privacy Policy regarding the processing of personal information of users of its mobile application, re:cam (the “App”). This Policy applies to all users of the App.
1. Information Processed and Purposes of Processing
The App is a camera. It requires no sign-up or login, and the Company does not collect any information that can identify you, such as your name, email address, phone number, or account credentials. The information the App handles is limited to what it needs to work, and all of it is processed on your device:
- the image from your device's camera, while the App is open
- the photos you take with the App
- a list of the photos the App has saved, made up of each photo's identifier in your photo library, whether saving it has finished, and when it was saved
- the camera you have chosen in the App
The sole purposes of processing this information are to show the viewfinder, to take photos and save them to your photo library, to show those photos in the App's Camera Roll, and to remember the camera you last used. None of this information is transmitted to the Company.
2. Camera and Photo Library Access
The App uses your device's camera only while the App is open on your screen. The camera image is processed on your device to draw the viewfinder, and a photo is created only when you press the shutter. The App does not record video or audio and does not access your microphone.
The first time you press the shutter, the App asks for access to your photo library so that it can save the photo there. If you allow full access, the App saves your photos in an album named “re:cam”. If you allow access to selected photos only, the App can still save new photos, and its Camera Roll shows only the photos it has saved itself. In either case, the App reads only the photos it has saved, in order to show them in its Camera Roll; it does not open, analyse, or upload any other photo in your library.
While the camera is running, the App reads your device's motion sensor, locally on the device, so that photos are saved the right way up. This does not require a permission, and only the resulting orientation is written into the photo (see Section 3).
You can change or withdraw camera and photo library access at any time in Settings → re:cam, or in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and Photos. Without camera access the App cannot take photos, and without photo library access it cannot save them.
3. Information Written Into Your Photos
Each photo the App saves is a standard JPEG file containing a small amount of technical information (metadata): the name of the App and of the camera you used (for example, “re:cam Phone 4 (2010)”), the photo's orientation, an estimated ISO sensitivity, and whether the flash fired. The App does not add your location, or any other information that identifies you, to the photos it saves. Your photo library may keep additional details of its own, such as the date a photo was added, under Apple's policies. When you share a photo, its metadata travels with the file.
4. Where Data Is Stored
The photos you take are stored in your device's photo library. The list of saved photos and the camera you have chosen are stored in the App's local storage on your device. The App itself does not sync its data to iCloud or any other cloud service, and the Company operates no server that stores your data and has no access to your photos or to any other data in the App.
If you use iCloud Photos, the photos the App saves to your library are synced by Apple under your own Apple Account, like any other photo in your library. When the full-size original of a photo is kept only in iCloud, the App may ask the system's Photos framework to download it so that you can view or share it; that download is carried out by Apple. In addition, if your device's backup is turned on (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer), a copy of the App's local data may be included in that backup. iCloud Photos and backups are controlled by your operating system and your own account, not by the Company. For details on data processing by Apple, please refer to the Apple Privacy Policy.
5. Sharing Photos
The App shares a photo only when you tap Share in its Camera Roll. Sharing uses your operating system's standard share sheet, and the photo goes only to the app, service, or person you choose there. To hand the photo to the share sheet, the App writes a temporary copy of the file to its temporary storage on your device; that copy is overwritten the next time you share and is cleared by the operating system. Once shared, the photo is handled under the privacy policy of the service or recipient you chose, and the Company does not receive a copy.
6. Purchase
The App is a paid download from the App Store. The purchase is processed entirely by Apple, and the Company does not receive or store your payment details. The App contains no in-app purchases or subscriptions and does not use any purchase-management service. Refunds and purchase history are handled under Apple's App Store policies.
7. Retention Period
The photos you take remain in your photo library until you delete them. The list of saved photos holds only identifiers, save states, and times, not the photos themselves; it is kept until you uninstall the App, and the App removes entries for photos that no longer exist as it comes across them. The camera you have chosen is kept until you choose another one or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App deletes its local data from your device, but the photos you took remain in your photo library. The Company keeps no separate copy of your data, so no Company-side retention period applies.
8. Third-Party Disclosure and Processing
The Company does not sell or disclose your personal information to any third party and does not engage any external processor to handle it. The following are handled by Apple Inc. in its role as the platform provider, under Apple's own policies:
- processing the purchase of the App through the App Store
- iCloud Photos and device backups, where you have turned them on
When you share a photo, it is sent only to the destination you choose, as described in Section 5.
9. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
The App shows no advertising and does not embed any analytics SDK, advertising SDK, or external tracking tool. It does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and it does not collect any advertising identifier (such as the IDFA). The App makes no network connections of its own: apart from the photos you choose to share, the only network activity it causes is the download of iCloud originals described in Section 4, which Apple's Photos framework carries out. No behavioural data or usage statistics are transmitted to the Company. Where you have enabled the diagnostic-data sharing setting provided by iOS (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), anonymous, aggregated crash reports may be delivered to the Company; such reports contain no personally identifying information.
10. Permissions and Notifications
The App asks for two permissions: camera access, to take photos, and photo library access, to save your photos and show them in its Camera Roll. It does not access your location, microphone, contacts, or calendar, it does not ask for permission to track you, and it does not send notifications of any kind.
11. Your Rights and How to Exercise Them
You have the right to access, rectify, delete, and restrict the processing of your own personal information. Because your photos and the App's data reside on your device, you may exercise these rights directly through the App, the Photos app, or your operating system's settings. If a request must be addressed to the Company, please use the contact details in Section 16 below.
12. Procedure for Deleting Data
You can delete a photo from the App's Camera Roll or from the Photos app. iOS asks you to confirm the deletion and keeps the photo in the Recently Deleted album of the Photos app for up to 30 days before removing it permanently. Uninstalling the App deletes its local data on your device (the list of saved photos and the camera you have chosen) but does not delete the photos in your photo library. Photos synced with iCloud Photos, and copies included in a device backup, are governed by your iCloud and backup settings; you can manage or delete them in your device or account settings.
13. Security Measures
The Company does not retain your photos or any other App data on its own servers, which minimises the likelihood of your data being compromised through infrastructure operated by the Company. Data on your device is protected by your operating system's security features, and data in iCloud is protected under Apple's security policies.
14. Children Under 14
The Company does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 14.
15. Changes to This Policy
If this Policy is amended, the Company will update the “Last updated” date on this page. Where the change is material, the Company will provide separate notice, such as through an in-app announcement.
