Sinabro (the “Company”, “we”) publishes this Privacy Policy to explain how personal information is handled when you use the photoff application for iOS (the “App”). It applies to every user of the App.
1. Overview and Who Is Responsible
Sinabro, an individual developer based in the Republic of Korea, is the controller of any personal information processed through the App. Contact details are in Section 17.
The App helps you clear your photo library a little each day: it shows your new photos one at a time, and you swipe to delete or keep each one. It has no sign-up, login, or account, and the Company operates no server. The App has no networking code of its own and contains no third-party SDK. It reads and analyses your photos on your device, and nothing about your photos is ever sent to the Company. The Company receives personal information only if you choose to email it, for example with Report a problem (Section 7).
This Policy is published in English and Korean. For users residing in the Republic of Korea the Korean version prevails; for all other users the English version prevails.
2. Information We Process, Purposes, Legal Basis, and Retention
The table below lists every category of information the App handles. “Legal basis” refers to the ground under the EU/UK GDPR where it applies; under the Korean Personal Information Protection Act the same processing is necessary to provide the service you requested.
| Information | Purpose | Legal basis | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Details of the photos in your library, read through the system’s Photos framework: each photo’s identifier in your library, capture date, type (photo, video, screenshot, or burst shot), whether it is a favourite or in one of your albums, pixel size, file size, and whether it can be deleted | Find newly arrived photos, build each day’s goal, leave out the photos the App never suggests (Section 5), and estimate the space a delete frees | Performance of the service you requested (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) | Until you uninstall the App. A photo’s entry is kept after the photo is deleted, so that your history and Pro’s learning keep working |
| Analysis results computed on your device from a small copy of each photo: an image feature print (a list of numbers describing what the photo looks like), the number of faces in it, and a blur score | Group similar photos, recognise blurry photos, leave out photos with people in them, and, with Pro, find photos like the ones you usually delete | Same as above | Until you uninstall the App |
| Your delete and keep choices, and the App’s record of each delete request: the photo identifier, the date, the estimated size, and the result | Delete photos safely, finish a delete that was interrupted, never suggest a photo you kept again, and show your streak and history | Same as above | Until you uninstall the App |
| The photos themselves, while a card is on screen or a photo is being analysed | Show the card, and analyse the photo on your device | Same as above | Not stored by the App; the image is held in memory only while it is needed |
| Your settings: reminder time, how many photos are collected before each delete, the iCloud plan and current usage you type in, and small flags such as whether you have seen a notice | Remember your preferences and show your progress toward a smaller iCloud plan | Same as above | Until you change them or uninstall the App |
| A usage log: event names with their times and counts, such as app launches, finished sessions, the number of photos deleted, and error codes. It never contains photos, photo identifiers, or image information | Let you send the Company a log when you choose to (Section 7), so that problems can be found and fixed | Legitimate interest in improving the App (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) | On your device, the most recent 10,000 events, until you uninstall the App |
| Widget numbers: today’s goal, the photos left, and your streak | Show the App’s widget on your Home Screen or Lock Screen | Performance of the service you requested (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) | Replaced at each update; deleted when you uninstall the App |
| Your Pro status: whether you own Pro and whether a subscription is active | Unlock Pro, also while you are offline, and offer subscription management | Performance of the purchase contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) | Until you uninstall the App; the purchase or subscription itself stays with your Apple Account (Section 8) |
| Emails you send to the Company, including Report a problem: your email address, your message, and any attachment; for Report a problem, also the App version, iOS version, and device model that the App fills in | Answer your inquiry and fix the problem you report | Steps you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and legitimate interest in supporting the App (Art. 6(1)(f)) | 3 years after your inquiry is resolved, so that a repeat problem or a dispute can be handled; then deleted |
The App does not read your photos’ location, does not recognise who is in a photo, and does not process your contacts, camera, microphone, or any government identifier. Apart from the emails you choose to send, none of the information above is transmitted to the Company.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored and Backups
The App’s data in Section 2 is stored in the App’s local storage on your device. The widget numbers are kept in a storage area shared only between the App and its own widget. The App does not sync anything to iCloud or any other cloud service itself, and the Company operates no server.
Your photos stay in your photo library. If you use iCloud Photos and only a smaller version of a photo is on your device, the App may ask the system’s Photos framework to download a sharper version so that its card can be shown; Apple carries out that download. The App does not download photos to analyse them: a photo that is not on your device is not analysed and is not suggested. If your device backup is turned on (iCloud Backup or a computer backup), a copy of the App’s local data may be included in that backup. iCloud Photos and backups are controlled by your operating system and your own account, not by the Company. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
4. App Permissions
The App asks for photo library access, which it needs to work, and, optionally, for permission to send reminders.
| Permission | Required or optional | Purpose | When you are asked | If you decline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo library (read and write) | Required | Read your photos to find new ones, show and analyse them, and delete the ones you choose. Full access is recommended; access to selected photos only also works (Section 5) | After the first-launch screen that explains why | The App cannot show any photos and offers to open Settings |
| Notifications | Optional | One reminder a day at the time you choose (09:00 by default) | Once, right after you finish your first daily goal, or when you set a reminder time in Settings | No reminders; everything else works the same |
| Background processing | No permission needed on iOS | Analyse photos in the background while your iPhone is charging, so that cards are ready sooner | Not asked | Not applicable |
Background processing only analyses photos on your device; it never deletes anything, shows nothing, and does not use the network. The App does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, or calendar permission, and does not ask to track you. You can change photo and notification permissions at any time in Settings → photoff, or in Settings → Privacy & Security.
5. Photo Library Access, On-Device Analysis, and Deleting Photos
With full access, the App reads the details of the photos in your library (Section 2), notices which photos are new, and each day builds a short goal of 10 to 20 photos, starting with the ones that are easiest to decide on. With access to selected photos only, the App works with the photos you have selected, and new photos are not included until you select them.
The App analyses photos on your device with Apple’s Vision framework, using a small copy of each photo. It computes a feature print to find similar photos, a blur score, and the number of faces in the photo. Face detection only counts faces, so that photos with people in them are left out; the App does not recognise or identify anyone and does not store the shape of any face or any other biometric information. Analysis runs while the App is open and, in the background, while your iPhone is charging. No photo and no analysis result is uploaded anywhere.
The App never suggests favourites, photos in your albums, videos, photos from shared albums, photos with people in them, or photos you have chosen to keep, and it does not read hidden photos.
Nothing is deleted when you swipe. The App collects your choices and asks iOS to delete them together, and iOS asks you to confirm each delete. Deleted photos go to the Photos app’s Recently Deleted album, where you can recover them for 30 days. If you use iCloud Photos, a deleted photo is removed from all your devices; if it is in a Shared Library, it is removed for everyone in that library. With Pro, Deep clean and Your style show photos in a grid for you to review, and they are deleted with the same iOS confirmation.
6. Share Card
The History tab can make a share card: an image drawn by the App that shows numbers only — your streak, how many photos you deleted or reviewed today, the estimated space freed, and which days you finished this week. It contains no photos. The card is shared only when you tap Share, through the standard iOS share sheet, together with a short line of text, and it goes only to the app, service, or person you choose there. Once shared, it is handled under the privacy policy of the service or recipient you chose, and the Company does not receive a copy.
7. Usage Log and Problem Reports
The App keeps a usage log on your device (Section 2). It records events such as app launches, the size of each day’s goal, finished sessions and rounds, how many photos were deleted, undo and skip taps, whether a permission was granted, and error codes. It never contains photos, photo identifiers, or any image information, and it stays on your device unless you send it.
Send log in Settings opens the iOS share sheet with the log as a file, together with the App version and iOS version. It goes only where you choose. In test versions distributed through TestFlight, the App asks once, on the eighth day after installation, whether you would like to send the log; you can decline.
Report a problem in Settings opens your mail app with a new message to the Company’s support address. The App fills in the App version, the iOS version, and your device model (for example “iPhone16,1”), and you can change or remove them before sending. Nothing is sent unless you send the message yourself. When you email the Company, your email address, your message, and any attachment arrive in the Company’s support mailbox, which Kakao runs (Section 9). They are used only to answer you and fix problems, and are kept for 3 years after your inquiry is resolved, then deleted.
8. In-App Purchase
The App is free to download. Pro unlocks Deep clean and Your style. You can get it as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase; all three unlock the same features. Purchases, subscription renewals, and restoration are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store, and the Company never receives your payment details. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it; you can cancel up to 24 hours before the next billing date in the App’s Settings → Manage subscription, or in your iPhone’s Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. The App checks your Pro status with Apple’s StoreKit on your device and keeps a note of the result so that Pro works offline. You can restore Pro in Settings → Restore purchase. The App shows no advertising and uses no third-party purchase service. Pro is provided under Apple’s standard license agreement, and refunds and purchase history are handled under Apple’s App Store policies; see the Apple Privacy Policy.
9. Third-Party Disclosure and Processors
The Company does not sell, rent, or disclose your photos or any other personal information to anyone.
Processor that acts on the Company’s behalf:
| Processor | Country | Task entrusted | Information handled |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kakao Corp. (Daum Mail) | Republic of Korea | Run the Company’s support mailbox | Emails you send to the Company: your email address, your message and any attachment, and, for Report a problem, the App version, iOS version, and device model |
Platform providers that process information for their own services, under their own terms and privacy policies:
| Provider | Country | Service | Information handled |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Inc. | United States | The photo library on your device; iCloud Photos and device backup where you have turned them on; the App Store download, and the Pro purchase or subscription and its renewals | Your photos and the App’s local data, under your own Apple Account; purchase and subscription transactions |
When you share a share card or the usage log, it goes only to the destination you choose (Sections 6 and 7). For details on Apple’s processing, see the Apple Privacy Policy.
10. International Transfers
The App itself sends nothing to the Company and makes no network connections of its own. Emails you send to the Company are kept by Kakao, a company in the Republic of Korea, and the Company does not transfer them abroad. The transfers that can occur are listed below; Apple is located in the United States, so this information leaves the Republic of Korea (and, for users elsewhere, your own country).
| Recipient | Country | When and how | Information transferred | Purpose | Retention | Basis | How to refuse and what happens |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Inc. (iCloud Photos) | United States | Only if you have turned on iCloud Photos, whenever your library syncs, including after you delete photos | The photos in your library and your deletes, like any change to your library | Sync and storage under your own Apple Account | Your iCloud settings | Your own choice to use iCloud Photos | Turn off iCloud Photos in Settings; photos then stay on the device only |
| Apple Inc. (iCloud Backup) | United States | Only if you have turned on iCloud Backup | The App’s local data (Section 2) | Device backup | Your backup settings | Your own choice to use iCloud Backup | Turn off backup for the App or the device |
| Apple Inc. (App Store) | United States | When you buy, subscribe to, or restore Pro, and at each subscription renewal | Purchase and subscription transactions, managed by Apple | Payment | Apple’s policy | Performance of the purchase contract | Do not purchase; the free features work the same. A cancelled subscription is no longer renewed |
For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, these transfers rely on the safeguards Apple publishes, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses; see the Apple Privacy Policy.
11. Deleting Your Data
- Photos: photos you delete with the App go to the Photos app’s Recently Deleted album for 30 days. You can recover them there, or delete them permanently sooner.
- The App’s local data: uninstalling the App deletes all of it — photo details, analysis results, your choices and history, settings, the usage log, and the widget numbers. It does not delete any photo in your library. A Pro purchase or subscription stays with your Apple Account and can be restored after you reinstall; uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription (Section 8).
- iCloud plan: Settings → iCloud plan → Remove plan deletes the plan and usage you entered.
- iCloud: photos synced with iCloud Photos, and copies included in a device backup, are governed by your iCloud and backup settings and can be managed or deleted in your device or account settings.
- Emails you sent: deleted from the support mailbox 3 years after your inquiry is resolved. To have them deleted sooner, write to the contact in Section 17.
Apart from emails you have sent, the Company holds no copy of your photos or data, so there is nothing further for the Company to delete.
12. Your Rights and How to Exercise Them
You have the right to access, correct, delete, and restrict the processing of your personal information, to receive a copy in a portable format, to object to processing, and to withdraw any consent you have given, with effect for the future. Where you act on behalf of a child, the child’s legal representative may exercise these rights.
Because the App’s data exists only on your device, you exercise these rights directly in the App, in the Photos app, and in your device settings (Sections 4 and 11). For emails you have sent to the Company, or anything else that requires the Company, write to the contact in Section 17; we answer within 10 days.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the data protection authority of your country; in the Republic of Korea, the bodies listed in Section 17.
The Company does not sell personal information. The App does not use browser cookies and does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because it does not track you across websites.
13. Analytics, Tracking, and Notifications
The App shows no advertising and embeds no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or purchase SDK; it contains no third-party SDK at all. It does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites and does not collect any advertising identifier. The App has no networking code of its own: the only network activity it can cause is the iCloud download described in Section 3, which Apple’s Photos framework carries out, and Pro purchases and subscriptions through Apple’s App Store. The usage log stays on your device unless you send it (Section 7), and no usage statistics reach the Company otherwise. If you have enabled iOS diagnostic sharing (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may deliver anonymous, aggregated crash reports to the Company; they contain no personal information.
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. The App does not use push notifications, and nothing is sent to a server to deliver them. If you allow notifications, the App reminds you once a day at the time you choose and skips the reminder on a day you have already finished your goal. You can change the time in the App’s Settings, or turn reminders off in Settings → photoff → Notifications.
14. Security Measures
The Company collects the minimum information necessary and keeps none of your photos or the App’s data on infrastructure it operates. On your device, the App’s data is protected by iOS storage protection and device encryption; in iCloud, by Apple’s encryption in transit and at rest. The support mailbox is protected by Kakao’s account security, and only the Company has access to it.
15. Children
The App is not directed at children, and the Company does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14, or under the age at which your country requires parental consent (for example 13 in the United States and up to 16 in the European Economic Area). If you believe a child has used the App in a way that involved personal information, contact us (Section 17) and we will help remove it.
16. Changes to This Policy
When this Policy changes, the Company publishes the revised version at this address with a new “Last updated” date and the date it takes effect, and records the change below so the old and new versions can be compared. The Company holds no email address for you unless you have written to it, and therefore does not notify you individually.
- October 9, 2026: first version.
